Five Nations Energy Inc.
MWA was a key part of the development team that led to the creation of Ontario’s first Aboriginal transmission company, Five Nations Energy Inc., and the building of a new 270 km. 138 kV electricity transmission line from Moosonee to Attawapiskat. MWA provided support in obtaining the required funding and financing, assisted in the preparation of the initial rates application to the Ontario Energy Board, participated in the feasibility study, including the demand modeling, as well as the traditional knowledge study, environmental assessment and route selection. Nancy developed the initial business plan for Five Nations Energy Inc. and provided briefing materials on a bi-weekly basis to the Chiefs and Councils of the affected communities during development of the project. Nancy also provided ongoing advice to the Board and Senior Management regarding strategic planning, communications and personnel issues, including the initial development of the website, newsletters and community briefings.
